Brs. Roshan & Reynaldo are now Priest-Friars
Our brothers Roshan Anthonypillai, OFM Cap., and Reynaldo FrÃas-Santana, OFM Cap. (above) were ordained as priest-friars in Pittsburgh, PA, by Bishop David Zubik who shepherds the diocese there. of Pittsburgh, PA. The celebration took place on Saturday, December 9. Both men will be headed to our Custodies in their first assignments as priests: Fr. Reynaldo will minister in Utuado, PR, to assist our brothers in one of the areas most damaged by the recent hurricane, and Fr. Roshan will be serving with the friars in Papua New Guinea.
It's a deal with Catholic Workcamps . . .
Our province minister, Fr. Tom Betz, OFM Cap., and our director of college formation, Fr. Brian Stacy, OFM Cap., has entered into a partnership Group Workcamps, an ecumenical youth program providing mission trips and service "Workcamps" for more than 17,000 young people each year. The new partnership entitled "Group Catholic Workcamps" will offer religious service weeks for Catholic youth groups and schools. Br. Brian will be the coordinator of the project which, in 2018, hopes to offer three weeks of Catholic service, projected to serve from 1000 to 1200 teens.
Encounter Radio interviews Br. Tommy
In the first week of November, Dan DeMatte and Patrick Reis from Encounter Ministries interviewed our brother Tommy Piolata, OFM Cap. on Encounter Radio. The station is a joint production of St. Gabriel Catholic Radio in association with EWTN and is internationally syndicated on the EWTN Global Catholic Radio network and the Ave Maria Radio Network." Their mission is to highlight "the supernatural encounters of ordinary people that launch them into lives of extraordinary mission," and Br. Tommy got the chance to share his vocation story.
Welcoming New Students to the CFP
Br. Brian Stacy, OFM Cap., sent along some photos of the first weeks of the semester for our College Formation Program at Cleveland's Borromeo Seminatry in Wickliffe, OH.In the photo above, some of the students greeted newly installed Bishop of Cleveland, Nelson J. Perez, and two of our staff of Capuchins were able to get a shot with the bishop as well . . . .
