First Sunday of Advent
The whisper of Advent
precedes historic time
with hint in Genesis,
when a champion was selected
for unlocking Paradise
and reestablishing
the harmony of humans
with God.
Neanderthals, Cro-Magnons
and other lost human types,
prepared without relic,
except their own development,
the human maturation,
until Emmanuel could enter
a dwelling, not a cave,
with art in open light.
The swirl of the sphere
from west to east
concocted the story of light,
unfolding light,
engulfing light,
arranging the pages of years
so that prophets
could count their lonely steps
before they burned their candles
to light the champion's way.
