Divine Mercy Sunday 2015

Evading God’s command,
the people plotted to kill
the hidden prophet,
and Jeremiah gasped a prayer
to witness God’s vengeance.
Un-surmising
he invoked the same lust for power
the people inflicted on him,
and Jeremiah missed
a revelation of God’s mercy.

These people threatened Jesus in time
and he let slide
any threat of vengeance,
while pleading,
my father forgive them,
I lay down my life for them,
this minute,
as I am dying,
but still have breath,
I say with all my heart
I do not hold this sin against them.

We elderly of limping health,
with multiple functions failing,
can only say,
if aiming at the way of Jesus,
I lay down my life
for you, my family,
and all my many doctors.
I do not die with grasping resistance,
attached to one more minute,
I use this gift to lay it down,
increasing God’s unrelenting love
and mercy
for those who accept his loving mercy.
