It was an extraordinary moment, and those moments call for extraordinary efforts to play a part. While Pope Francis' visit to the US was continually dubbed an 'historical' moment, it will certainly be an important part of the history for our friars in DC and in Philadelphia.
Pictures can only tell part of the story . . .
The friars in Washington took every opportunity to join the welcoming crowds in the nations' capitol. Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, our brother Matt Palkowski, OFM Cap., hosted the Holy Father for his visit to the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility where Matt ministers, and Chris Johnson, OFM Cap., lined up with fellow students as the Pope greeted them for his visit to Charles Borromeo Seminary there.
We gathered as many pix as we could, but we thank our confrere Sebastião ("Seba") Da Silva, OFM Cap. (Province of Central Brazil) for capturing the DC moments. Br. Seba heads back to his graduate work in Rome after spending some months in the study of the English language. Obviously, he'll get a lot more chances to capture the Holy Father on his home turf . . . .
