On Sunday morning, May 31, in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, PA (where our St. Augustine Friary motherhouse is located), Butler Street was closed to motorized vehicles and turned over to human-powered mobility. Our nonagenarian Fr. DeSales Young, OFM Cap., was able to join the happening with the help of Br. Francisco Lopez, OFM Cap., a friar student who recently completed his first year in Washington, DC. Thanks to “NEXTPittsburgh” for catching our friars in the act of being themselves.
A number of streets in the city were shut down and became avenues for biking and walking, and many other activities, including yoga. We don’t think Fr. DeSales and Br. Francisco made it for the yoga, but we’d actually pay for that photo.
NEXTPittsburgh is "the must-read online magazine about the people driving change" in the city of Pittsburgh, PA, and "the cool and innovative things happening here."
